This is a monumental complex of historical monuments built in 1956 to honor the National Heroes of Venezuela's Independence. It is these very same national heroes that give this two-kilometer long avenue its name; it spans from the gates of Universidad Central de Venezuela (Central University of Venezuela, its largest) to the Military Academy and is made up of Avenida Los Ilustres, Avenida La Nacionalidad and Avenida Los Proceres. Along this Avenue, one may admire ornamental works of art that are perfectly integrated in the fresh landscapes provided by the lush gardens and trees that populate it. This place is frequented by jogging and exercise lovers, as well as those who appreciate a place for a leisurely chat or quiet relaxation.

The Mosque Ibrahim Ibin Abdul Aziz Al-Ibrahim or Caracas Mosque is a mosque in the El Recreo district of Caracas. It is the second largest mosque in Latin America after the Centro Cultural Islámico Rey Fahd mosque in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The construction of the mosque began in 1989 by Sheikh Ibrahim Bin Abdulaziz. The building was designed by architect Zuhe Fayez. The mosque occupies an area of 5000 m²; its minaret is 113 metres high (the highest in Latin America). The dome is 23 metres high. Construction of the mosque was completed in 1993. The mosque can hold around 3500 worshipers.
These were put in place by the former Caracas Mayor to control and prevent crime, go figure!!

The Palacio de las Academias is a colonial building with neo-Gothic style in Caracas, situated between the corners of La Bolsa at the Avenida Universidad in front of the Federal Legislative Palace in the Parroquia Central. Because in this street there are several historic colonial buildings or the mayor decided to call this area as a Heritage Walk. The building began to rise in 1577 to house the Franciscan monks, two years before he was hired four plots or land in one of the original 24 blocks of the route from Caracas, nine years after the work is completed. In the mid-eighteenth century was also decided to construct the convent at the rear of the building, ending in 1794, but in 1812 was largely destroyed by a strong earthquake. In 1821 it was decided to remove the Convent of San Francisco. Since then it has been used for multiple uses, in 1838 part of the building served as headquarters for the overall direction of the institution, between 1840 and 1845 hosted the Chamber of Deputies of the National Congress and the Central University of Venezuela since 1852 until 1953. The president Antonio Guzmán Blanco decides to build a new facade and a second plant in 1876, completing the work. Then the palace would be the subject of many reforms when Guzmán Blanco ordered Carlos Alvarez and Jesús Muñoz Thebes works in the courtyard and the southern interior of the building. Another reform in 1922 by order of President Juan Vicente Gómez ago that extends north to the front office of Carlos Manrique, Luis Soriano Toro. Between 1930 and 1937 are engaged in many reforms in 1949 until it happens one of the most important when you must build a new facade on the building of the Centro Simón Bolívar Torres or El Silencio. In 1952 he decided to move the academies of history, medicine, languages, physical sciences, mathematics and natural, including the building and the April 6, 1956 was declared National Historical Monument. Today are located in the east side of the academies and on the west side of Caracas Metropolitan Library Simón Rodríguez, the building has been restored by the local council in pursuance of a plan that aims to rescue the historic buildings of Caracas.
